Action Research success at Habs

One of the best things about working at Habs is to have the opportunity to work with intellectually curious bright colleagues and boys. As part of our on-going professional teacher development, this year a number of Habs teachers took the bold step to carry out an action research project; trialing and testing research-informed approaches and strategies to see what works in their classroom.

A year on from the start of the process, on the 21 June, we were able to celebrate the achievements of Mr Jones and Miss Biggerstaff’s action research project representing The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School Mathematics Department, which was shortlisted for the National TES Maths Award.

Overall, the School has seen one project shortlisted for the national TES Maths Award, Mr Lawrence’s work published in the Chartered College of Teaching’s Impact Journal, and a very successful whole Staff Development Day run by our twelve colleagues together with Professor Robert Coe. Action research has had a very successful inaugural year at Habs, and we are looking forward to see how our colleagues will challenge themselves next year in order to continue improving their skills and the outcomes of the pupils we teach.
