Forty-five Year 11, L6th and U6th CCF Royal Navy Cadets descended on Croxley Common Moor for Field Day to continue the work we have committed ourselves to for the past couple of years. The boys and staff spent the day cutting back Blackthorn, Hawthorn, Willow and Brambles, so enabling fragile plant species to thrive on the Moor, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Sincere thanks to Mssrs Bartlett, Charman, Kerry and Mrs Caterer for accompanying the trip. Further thanks to the Friends of Croxley Common Moor: Fabian Hiscock, John Watton, Ian Ward and Kay (from Three Rivers District Council) for giving up a day’s work to come and help direct operations.
Needless the say, the cadets did an outstanding job and cleared/burnt several tonnes of brash!
