On Friday 20 January, we saw Yossi (L6J2) head off to the Regional Heats of ARTiculation where he carried out a moving talk on Anselm Kiefer’s ‘Eisen-Steig’, 1986. The event was adjudicated by Dr Edwin Coomasaru, Historian of modern and contemporary art.
Dr Edwin Coomasaru stated what a privilege it had been to hear such compelling, articulate and thoughtful presentations, and what an honour it had been to be able to share the afternoon with all speakers. He commended all presenters for bringing to the fore, and reminding us all, of the power of art to shape our world; of art as an imaginative space to share and provide alternative possibilities and worlds. He stated that all presentations had been brilliant, all speakers had presence, and all had addressed the audience in compelling ways with personal anecdotes, successfully placing the artworks in the room with the audience.
Dr Edwin Coomasaru applauded Yossi for his incredibly powerful talk, which he described as being packed with emotional energy. Dr Coomasaru added that Yossi had brought to the fore some incredibly important stakes and had posed some very important and urgent political questions. He commended Yossi for thinking so attentively about what it is, and what it means, to represent something.
