In the first national title to be contested in the 2015 and 2016 road and cross country season, Jamie Harper (Year 10) helped anchor Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers to the team title in the National Young athletes Road Relay meet on Sunday 4 October.
Jamie ran the third and final leg for the team catapulting them from 4th place, some 18 seconds behind the leader, to finishing with an 8-second advantage over the City of Portsmouth AC. His run of 12.19 was the equal second fastest of the day for the undulating course which is around 4k in length.
Shaftesbury now have a clean sweep at this age winning the county, regional and national titles all in the space of four weeks.
Habs had a second representative in the same race as Henry Rocha (Year 10) running for Shaftesbury’s B team completed the first leg in a time of 13.09 which was the 25th fastest on the day with the B team finishing 12th out of the 55 finishers.
