On Friday 8 June 2018 our Year 7 enjoyed a fabulous independent learning and problem-solving day.
Designed to foster skills of independent learning, critical thinking and a cross curricular approach to questions, pupils were cracking codes in foreign languages, trading shares in competitive and less competitive markets and using the Micro:bit to design cars for aerodynamic speed. The rocket cars reached speeds of up to 60mph!
Our guest speaker from Microsoft Robert Epstein (OH) explored the worlds of virtual and augmented reality and pupils were challenged to consider the idea that creativity, rather than productivity alone, was the key to future success.
Team work, collaborative thinking and learning to fail productively were the order of a fast moving day of new ways of thinking and learning. The day is just one example of our commitment to developing confident learners who will be the creative, resilient and independent thinkers of tomorrow.
If you would like more information about what the pupils achieved and the stimulus resources used, please contact our Director of Studies Ms Shah.
